TALAUD 

Talaud is a small town in north Sulawesi. It is so far on the border Philippines. Talaud or in our traditional language, it is called Porodisa or paradise. There have many tourism locations especially in the beach and some interesting traditional. One of the tourism location the names is Sara island. The island is two islands in front of my island. You can go with rowboat in twenty minute or you can go with speed boat in five minute. We go to the island every weekend. It is a relaxing place for us. There have beautiful scenery with white sand beach that very smooth. The beach is beautiful because the water is very clear and you can see the colorful of coral reefs. My friends and I are swimming, diving or snorkeling in there. Its place is very interesting. One of the interesting traditional the name is Mane’e ceremony. You can catch the fish with your hand. Mane’e ceremony will be held once in 6 month. The first is you can use rectangular net made of coconut leaves and forest ropes. This net is made by the cooperation of all citizens so that the length can reach three kilometers. The morning before the ceremony, this net is brought in a rollicking to be propagated into the tidal sea. All the ceremony participants have been on the beach. When mid-day the nets that have been installed are then pulled to the edge while directing the fish to the pool in the beach. The fish's spinning takes about four to five hours. And when the fish have collected, the villagers immediately catch it by using a sieve or with empty hands.  Many visitors come were interested with the interesting place or our traditional. So Talaud for me like a paradise in the world.

Biography of Edit Fasensi Melato

Edit Fasensi Melato

          This is a short biography of Edit Fasensi Melato.  She is the first child in our family and she is my only sister. Edit Fasensi was born in Moronge, Talaud on February 12, 1980. Now,she is 36 years old. She is the first child of Daniel Melato and Altji Wisara. She has one brother and two children. She has married with Corneles Iwan Mamarambe. Her first child is Sefaniya Wenda Mamarambe and the second one is Anjela Mamarambe. She has been a midwife in my town since 2006, and now she has been living in Moronge, Talaud North Celebes. In 2006 until 2010, she worked in Lirung hospital. And when she was a civil servant, she moved to Moronge hospital. She has worked there until now.

          She often got the good score in the class when she was in Elementary School until she was in Senior High School. In 1987-1992, when she was in Elementary School, she followed an academic competition her town. In 1993-1995, when she was in Junior High School, she was one of some students that followed the Olympiad. She represented the school for Biology Olympic. She got the third position in the district. In 1996-1998, when she was in Senior High School, she was the best student in the school. She always got the good score in the class. She is friendly to her friends and all of her teachers.

        In 2010, she followed the national day in the district. She had followed the national day, because it’s one of the rules to be a civil servant. During the day, she learnt how to be a great midwife. She also learnt how to give a good service to many people who need help if they are sick, especially to the pregnant mothers. The last day, they jogging in there. They also did gymnastics healthy in front of the regent office building.

        Every three months, she and her friends give a delivery care of new born as one of their programs in their hospital. There, they teach many people how to keep their life healthy. They also teach an expectant mother how to keep healthy when they are pregnant. Besides, they give nutrition for the fetus. They also give immunization for baby and children.

      For many people in my town, she is like a super hero because she is one of midwifes in there. Many people need the midwife especially for expectant mothers and the new borns. For many people, she is a strong woman. She can help the woman that who can give birth. Although she was busy, she never lived her responsibility in her family. She always gave a good service in her family as a housewives. She was friendly to many people in there. Many people like to her.
